About Me.
I am Dr. Soumya Guha, a Cardio-Thoracic & Vascular Surgeon and Robotic Heart Surgeon, dedicated to providing advanced, evidence-based cardiac and thoracic surgical care with compassion, precision, and excellence. My journey in medicine has taken me through some of India’s most prestigious medical institutions as well as internationally renowned hospitals in the United Kingdom, enabling me to bring world-class surgical expertise to my patients.
I completed my advanced training at the prestigious Northern General Hospital, Sheffield, United Kingdom, where I gained extensive experience in the latest surgical techniques, including robotic and minimally invasive (keyhole) cardiac and thoracic surgery. This international exposure has strengthened my commitment to delivering treatment that meets the highest global standards while ensuring the best possible outcomes for every patient.
Currently, I am associated with BM Birla Heart Research Centre & Hospital, Kolkata, where I provide comprehensive care for patients with complex heart, lung, and vascular diseases. My areas of expertise include Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG), Heart Valve Repair and Replacement, Robotic Heart Surgery, Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery, Major Aortic Surgery, Lung Cancer Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, and Advanced Vascular Surgery. Whenever clinically appropriate, I strive to use robotic and minimally invasive techniques that offer smaller incisions, reduced pain, quicker recovery, and shorter hospital stays.
My medical education and surgical training began at some of India’s most respected institutions, including VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital and PGIMER & Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, New Delhi. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of serving at leading healthcare institutions such as Desun Heart Institute, Kolkata, BP Poddar Hospital, Kolkata, Hi-Tech Medical College & Hospital, Bhubaneswar, and Northern General Hospital, Sheffield, UK, where I refined my skills in managing complex cardiothoracic cases.
I hold the prestigious FRCS (Cardio-Thoracic Surgery) from England and have completed advanced fellowship training in the United Kingdom. My experience in robotic-assisted and minimally invasive surgery allows me to offer modern, safe, and effective treatment options tailored to each patient’s individual needs.
As a Robotic Heart Surgeon in Kolkata, I strongly believe that every patient deserves personalized attention, transparent communication, and access to the latest advances in cardiac surgery.
